PREVENT CANCER WITH PHYTONUTRIENTS! Cancer is preventable! Phytochemicals are plant or fruit-derived chemical compounds. "Phytonutrients" refer to phytochemicals or compounds that come from edible plants and nourish the body. 0n the cusp of the millennium, researchers are busily uncovering a host of beneficial compounds in plant foods. While these phytonutrients aren't essential by traditional definitions, they apparently reduce risks of diseases of aging. - USDA Agricultural Research Service The term "phyto" originated from a Greek word meaning plant. Phytonutrients are certain organic components of plants, and these components are thought to promote human health. Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and teas are rich sources of phytonutrients. How do phytonutrients protect against disease?
For now, it appears that an effective strategy for reducing risk of cancer and heart disease is to increase consumption of phytonutrient-rich foods including fruits, vegetables, grains and teas. - USDA Agricultural Research Service Reference: http://www.ars.usda.gov/Aboutus/docs.htm?docid=4142
